В чём внутренний смысл праздника Наваратри? Бхагаван, наш Любящий Господь, ясно объясняет нам сегодня.
Наваратри означает девять ночей. То, что связано с тьмой, есть ночь. Что же это за тьма? Невежество есть тьма. Человек страдает от девяти видов тьмы. Цель празднования Наваратри — помочь человеку избавиться от девяти видов тьмы, которые им овладели. Когда речь идёт о Дэви, это означает единую форму Дурги, Лакшми и Сарасвати. Эти три вместе представляют Шакти. Шакти — это энергия, ответственная за все явления Пракрити (Природы). Пракрити — это энергия, а повелитель этой энергии — Параматма, Господь. Пракрити состоит из трёх качеств: саттвы, раджаса и тамаса. Поскольку Пракрити состоит из этих трёх качеств, чтобы обрести контроль над Природой, человек поклонялся Дурге, Лакшми и Сарасвати. Это не богини, а обожествлённые символы трёх качеств. Чтобы обрести милость Господа, человек должен прежде всего поклоняться Пракрити. — Божественная беседа, 27 сентября 1992 г.
Пракрити (природа) неотлична от Параматмы (Высшего Я). Природа — следствие, а Бог — причина. — БАБА

What is the inner significance of the Navaratri Festival? Bhagawan, our Loving Lord, clearly explains to us today.
Navaratri means nine nights. That which is associated with darkness is night. What is this darkness? Ignorance is darkness. Man suffers from nine types of darkness. The purpose of the Navaratri celebration is to enable man to get rid of the nine types of darkness which have taken hold of him. When a reference is made to Devi, it signifies the unified form of Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. The three together represent Shakti. Shakti is the energy that accounts for all the phenomena of Prakriti (Nature). Prakriti is energy and the controller of that energy is the Paramatma, the Lord. Prakriti is made up of the three qualities, Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. As Prakriti is made up of these three qualities, to get control over Nature, man has been offering worship to Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. These are not goddesses but deified symbols of the three qualities. To acquire the grace of the Lord, man has to offer worship at the outset to Prakriti. — Divine Discourse, Sep 27, 1992
Prakriti (Nature) is not different from Paramatma (Supreme Self). Nature is the effect, and God is the cause.
