Ни аскезой, ни паломничеством, ни изучением священных писаний, ни джапой (повторением имен Бога) нельзя пересечь океан жизни. Этого можно достичь, только служа благочестивым людям. (Стих на санскрите)
Человеку не нужно прибегать к аскезе, чтобы осознать Бога. Ему также не нужно совершать паломничества для обретения освобождения. Как же тогда он может пересечь океан мирской жизни? Служить благочестивым людям, так сказано. Кто должен служить? Все должны служить. В этом мире каждый является слугой. Ребенок - слуга матери, мать - слуга ребенка. Муж - слуга своей жены, а жена - его слуга. Учитель - слуга своих учеников, а ученики - слуги своего учителя. Правительство - слуги своего народа, а народ - слуги правительства. Все, от короля до фермера, всего лишь слуги. Глядя на своё богатство, можно считать себя господином. Но есть один и только один владыка. Why is service the certain and inescapable discipline to reach the goal of life? Bhagawan beautifully explains to us today.
Neither by penance nor by pilgrimage nor by study of scriptures nor by japa (recitation of the names of God) can one cross the ocean of life. One can achieve it only by serving the pious. (Sanskrit Verse) Man need not resort to penance in order to realise God. He need not undertake pilgrimages either for liberation. How then can he cross the ocean of mundane worldly life? By serving pious people, it is said. Who has to serve? All have to serve. Everyone is a servant in this world. The child is the servant of the mother; the mother is the servant of the child. The husband is the servant of his wife, and the wife is his servant. The teacher is the servant of his students, and the students are the servants of their teacher. The government is the servant of its people, and the people are the servants of the government. Right from a king to a farmer, all are servants only. Looking at one’s wealth, one may consider oneself a master. But there is one and only one master. That is God; all others are servants only. — Divine Discourse, Apr 30, 1997
